Laura was born with Hemifacial Microsomia where half of her face was deformed at birth. Her young life was a living hell due to the over 40 surgeries and constant teasing she endured. While school was always filled with emotional pain the turning point in her life came in college when she walked across campus and a group of fraternity boys mocked her, shouting  “Hey Beautiful” knowing quite well she was not considered conventionally beautiful by Western beauty standards. She then came to the conclusion that no man could or would ever love her.
